HR Manager

Job Description


Provides full array of HR services to assigned departments/sites to include salary and hourly recruiting and hiring, performance management, associate relations, organizational development, employment compliance, human resource consulting and leadership development/training. Fosters positive associate relations climate through proactive leadership, communications and employee involvement. Administers Human Resources policies and procedures for the business. Coordinates and monitors plant manpower reporting systems, employee hiring and testing processes, employee training sessions, ISO documentation retention and other duties as directed. Ensures that all HR and EHS functions are in compliance with relevant Federal and State laws and regulations and Company policy and procedures. Prepares internal employee communications regarding the business plan, key company performance measures/indicators, and HR functions such as hiring, job bids, compensation, benefits, or company policies. Manages the day to day human resources function, including but not limited to policies and procedures, departmental development, organizational and leadership development, HRIS, associate relations, training, benefits and compensation.


  • Provides manager and supervisor coaching and guidance in the areas of leadership development, performance management, organizational structure, and other areas as assigned.

  • Assesses employee morale through associate survey data and provides recommendations for improvements. Applies techniques pertaining to survey data and Associate Relations programs in accordance with Company policies, procedures and values in keeping with positive employee relations. Participates and stays actively involved in employee communications activities.

  • Provides consultation and direction to management and staff for assigned areas/departments regarding associate relations activities, conflict resolution procedure, grievances, corrective and disciplinary actions, terminations and other employee matters affecting employee relations.

  • Develops and implements the annual associate relations plan for the facility

  • Advises and counsels management in effective use of rewards and recognition programs to support associate engagement.

  • Provides Safety & Environmental leadership and guidance to the facility

  • Facilitates employee involvement, development and continuous improvement programs and activities.

  • Participates in development of departmental goals, objectives, and associate relations plans.

  • Processes paperwork for functional area according to established procedures.

  • Maintain and Develop training with the training management system.

  • Responsible for delivering cost effective recruiting services in support of salary exempt, salary non-exempt, and hourly positions as required. Ensures established recruiting and interviewing processes are followed and are effectively on-boarding required human resource talent.

  • Develops and maintains relationships with outside recruiters, employment agencies, and other recruitment sources

  • Responsible for overseeing maintenance and administration of payroll time and attendance functions.

  • Coordinates and ensures proper maintenance of salary and hourly employee records including Personnel, Benefits, Confidential, and Training files

  • Coordinates leads weekly manning scheduling process and forecasts staffing needs for assigned departments

  • Develops, prepares, and distributes reports as required on a daily, weekly, monthly or yearly basis

  • Administers performance management system.

  • Coordinates FMLA program for facility including review of request, approval/denial of request, and notification to employee in accordance with Department of Labor standards

  • Conducts and coordinates investigations as may be required

  • Leads all aspects of employment process pre-hire and new hire orientation.

  • Leads implementation and facility training.

  • Ensures all proper documentation is in place for employee hourly status changes.

  • Works closely with Corporate Benefits and Payroll teams to ensure all benefit plans and payroll activities are in accordance with corporate guidelines

  • Facilitates hourly employee annual benefits meetings, etc.

  • Acts as assistant HR Manager and is actively preparing for future role as HR Manager.

  • Participates in Talent Management and Succession Planning processes for the facility.


  • Minimum Bachelor's degree - Business Management/Human Resources - Master's Degree Preferred

  • 5-10 years related experience in a manufacturing environment

  • PHR or SPHR preferred, but not required

  • Facilitation and Training experience required

  • Experience in both union and non-union environments preferred

  • Previous experience in health/safety and environmental is preferred


  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize problem solving tools.

  • Moderate to advanced computer skills including use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.

  • Previous experience in leading continuous improvement activities

  • Knowledge of ADP, Kronos, E-time, training or similar software

  • Strong leadership skills

  • The ability to lead compliance

  • Strong management facilitation and HR consulting skills

  • Strong communication skills both oral and written

  • Excellent interpersonal skills required

  • Ability to interpret, implement, and ensure compliance to federal and state employment regulations with ability to establish resource to stay abreast of potential changes to regulations/law that may impact the company.

  • Self motivated, energetic with the ability to think outside the norm

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
